who we are
Born in the year 1983 from a modest dream, AIKATAN-true to its name-has grown into a vibrant and united family of nearly 150 Bengali households, bound by shared traditions, cultural pride, and a love for togetherness. What began as a humble gathering four decades ago has today blossomed into one of the most spirited Bengali communities in Bangalore.
Our members hail from diverse walks of life-esteemed professionals from PSUs like BHEL, MECON, BEL, CIL, dynamic minds from IT giants such as Wipro, Mindtree, TCS, NIIT, distinguished educators, seasoned corporate leaders, and passionate entrepreneurs. Yet, what ties us all is a shared heartbeat that echoes “Durga Durgatinashini” – the rhythm of our roots.
Since our inception, AIKATAN has been a vibrant celebration of Bengali culture in Bangalore-fostering musical nights, theatrical performances, and artistic pursuits that echo the soul of Bengal. In 2011, we proudly introduced Durga Puja to our calendar, which has now grown into the oldest and largest Puja in South-West Bangalore, drawing communities from R.R. Nagar, Nagarbhavi, Vijayanagar, Uttarahalli, and Kengeri.
Each year, our Puja Mandap transforms into a confluence of creativity, devotion, and festivity, lit up by Dhunuchi dances, Dandiya nights, and soulful cultural performances. Yet, AIKATAN is not just a festival – it is a living spirit that resonates throughout the year with vibrant celebrations like Laxmi, Kali, and Saraswati Pujas, engaging sports events, community picnics, youth talent platforms, and meaningful CSR initiatives.
